Workshop Overview: Construction labor impacts have been studied by a number of researchers in a number of different fields. None so far have specifically studied labor productivity impacts in steel framing, and the installation and finishing of gypsum wallboard. To determine the potential effects to labor productivity to a drywall subcontractor, SWACCA and the NWCB conducted a national survey of more than 250 projects in 2022 to determine what the potential impact would be if certain variables were experienced on a project. In addition to the survey results, a User Guide for estimating the potential cost was also provided.

Presenter: Terry Kastner is the President/Owner of Wall and Ceiling Consulting Services (WCCS). He is the Former Executive Director of the Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau, a nonprofit trade association for the wall and ceiling industry, serving a wide-ranging membership of contractors, manufacturers, dealers, labor organizations and other professionals in the industry. Terry has 10 years of experience as an estimator and project manager for a national specialty drywall contractor, and 13 years of field-related experience in light gauge metal framing and drywall installations.
